From a Struggler Out of Canada
Before I began to build MOOD CONTROL, I was using art as a usual method of expression, an outlet to let out my complex and sometimes painful emotions I've experienced from mental health struggles. Even though I'd feel alone, I always knew that the emotions and feelings I'm conveying through my art are not exclusive to me.
There are tons of people out there like me possibly struggling in silence. We want to speak but sometimes speaking is really difficult. So I thought if people couldn't speak about their struggle, maybe they can show their struggle.
I wanted to create clothing to help people express their complex feelings but take a different approach for a mental health brand. Oftentimes, many brands take on an overly positive perspective on mental health.
While positivity is valuable, with statements like "Mental Health Matters" or "Be Kind to Your Mind" but sometimes being kind to your mind is not so simple. So I target emotions and battles that can be challenging to overcome, but winning starts when you know and show your struggle.
My vision for MOOD CONTROL is to create upfront and honest apparel for everyone who may be struggling in silence and to let them know that while it sucks to feel these difficult emotions, it's okay to feel them too and you don't have to bury them within you.
